A local’s guide to eating vegan in Bozeman
Blackbird
We started at Blackbird because we’ve had years of wonderful meals together in this vibrant, relaxed, upscale pizza place. Knowing they can elevate vegetables to a Mediterranean centerpiece, we wanted to compare a Blackbird vegan meal to their dependably delicious pizzas with cheese. We ordered black chickpea hummus, olives, and a chef’s choice vegan pizza. The hummus with crackers and savory olives did not disappoint, but the pizza was lackluster. Their pies are in the oven too briefly to allow raw veggies to cook adequately and the delicate flexible crust allowed the toppings to slide off. The pizza would benefit from forethought into subtle and sticky umami toppings. Since Blackbird is one of our favorites spots, we’ll try again!
